2014 ATH/QB Dre Massey says he's still awaiting to hear from his first college in regards to football. Considering he plays in one of the state's toughest regions in the state's largest classification, and amassed over 3,500 all-purpose yards last year as a junior it's tough to swallow. Nevertheless Massey was one of Mauldin High School's top weapons lining up at quarterback and as a punt returner for the Mavs. The 6'0 165 pound prospect has excellent speed and surprising strength which gave opponents obvious fits last season. We caught up with Massey as he's "UP NEXT" with SCPrepNation.com!
Although the Mavericks didn't enjoy the success he would've like last year with a 4-7 mark Massey says he was happy with how he played on the field last year and that things are looking up for the program.
The 2014 prospect talked about one of his best games from last season in which he broke a few records.
"My best game this year was against Wade Hampton. I scored 6 touchdowns and had 254 yards rushing. I ended up breaking school records."
As we mentioned earlier Massey says he has yet to hear from any schools but he's hoping that will all change soon once word starts to spread about him along with his junior season film being completed and circulating. Add the fact that he reports a 3.3 GPA in the classroom and there's a lot to like about Massey's upside.
"My running ability is my biggest strength right now but I know I was able to surprise a lot of defenses with my throwing ability too."
Massey says he'll work on things such as chemistry with his teammates and continuing to get stronger and faster for his upcoming senior season.
The 2014 prospect says he'd like to hear from Georgia, Clemson, South Carolina, and North Carolina sometime soon hopefully. He'll make some camp and combine appearances this off season in an effort to get his name out there even more for college coaches.
With a strong GPA in the classroom and wanting to study in a field that will lead him to a job in engineering or manufacturing Massey knows what he wants in a potential school when it comes to football.
"Education, facilities, conference strength, atmosphere, and playing time are going to be the biggest things for me."
SCPrepNation.com will have more updates with Dre Massey as we expect him recruitment to pick up soon as his junior season film starts to circulate so college coaches can see the dynamic athlete in action.
