Ty Madden Profile
Don't let the babyface fool you. Freshman Ty Madden's game on the hardcourt is lethal. We've already peeped his talents during earlier visits to Legacy Charter School. With the Lions hosting their first home game of the season we ventured to Greenville to see how head coach B.J. Jackson's team would respond with visiting Mt. Zion (NC) coming to town.
Legacy Charter features two prominent guards in their 2015 class in PG Jawun Evans and SG Gage Ellis. Both prospects have offers already but Madden is the next in line it would appear at Legacy. He's got good size at 6'3 and is athletic enough despite his youth. Time will bring added strength and athleticism but it's the smooth play and moxy that he brings to the court that we really like.
Madden was a solid presence and contributor for the Lions in their victory over visiting Mt. Zion Christian Academy on Saturday night.
Although it wasn't a performance of epic proportions on Madden's part you still have to take into account that he's still just a freshman. Aside from a play where he probably should've gone up strong to throw down a dunk, but he instead went up for a layup that was heavily contested in which he missed, there were no faults in his play. He showed a solid stroke from the perimeter knocking down a pair of three-pointers and helped out defensively.
On the night we had Madden down for 12 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 steals unofficially.
Right now his strengths are his perimeter shot and attacking the basket. As he continues to work on his ballhandling, midrange game, and adds strength Madden will continue to track towards the top of the 2016 recruiting class.
