Dozier Eying UNC Visit

Perry Dozier, a 2015 standout at Columbia (S.C.) Spring Valley, built a strong reputation last summer and after a strong sophomore season, the buzz continues to build.

Although his high school team had an early exit in the state playoffs, the 6-4 guard classified his season as a success.

"Overall it went really good though," Dozier said. "I got a little bit better throughout the year. I started off kind of slow. I feel like my game improved tremendously from the beginning to now."

What specifically improved?

"Really I just went back to the stats at the beginning of the year and the recent games," he said. "I just saw the stats get better and better every game. I have a whole bunch of things to work on, but overall I'm pretty happy with how the year went."

"I'm not perfect in any aspect of the game," he added. "I'm just going to work on everything possible to take it to the next level."

To go with his strong play, Dozier said things on the recruiting front are progressing nicely.

"That's also going great," he said of his recruitment. "It's starting to pick up a little more from the beginning of last year. I'm having coaches call my high school coach and my dad and they are letting me know who have been calling."

"I have Indiana now," he said about his recent interest. "That's probably the most recent one. UNC is also pretty recent. All the other ones through the year are Clemson, South Carolina, Kansas, Georgia and Virginia Tech.

Dozier said he's already taken unofficial visits to South Carolina, North Carolina State and Clemson. Now that his season is over he's looking to plan another trip.

"I think my next one might be to UNC now," Dozier said. "I'm not sure on the date."

"I haven't really talked to them too much," he added. "They've just been talking to my dad and my coach about them having interest. That's really all it is right now."

Although he's taken a few early visits, Dozier is just feeling out the recruiting process and doesn't have an early favorite.

"I don't really have any favorites right now," he said. "I'm just trying to see who all I can get and go on from there."

Dozier is planning to run with the Upward Stars during spring and summer ball.
