First offer in for Richardson

Tavin Richardson has been attracting interest from college coaching staffs since his freshman season. Last week, the sophomore from Duncan (S.C.) Byrnes picked up his first scholarship offer.

Tavin Richardson has been on the radar of several big-time college programs for quite a while.

Last week he picked up his first scholarship offer from Maryland.

"It's really exciting for me to get my first offer," said the 6-foot-4, 210-pound Richardson. "My coach texted me on Thursday to let me know that Maryland had offered. I wasn't expecting the offer."

Other schools are also pursuing the talented to sophomore.

"I've also been hearing from Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia Tech, Clemson, South Carolina, and Tennessee," said Richardson. "I think Virginia Tech could be the next to offer."

He recently took his first trip of the year.

"I went to Georgia's junior day a few weeks ago," he said. "It was amazing. The facilities and campus were very nice. The coaches just told me to keep working hard and keep my grades up. I really just enjoyed everything."

The 2015 playmaker has a few other trips lined up.

"I think I'm headed Clemson next weekend and North Carolina for their basketball game against Duke (March 9)," Richardson said.

This summer will be a busy one for Richardson. He said would likely camp at Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, and North Carolina.

Richardson finished his sophomore season with close to 600 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns.
