Bavueir Jackson Profile

College coaches are starting to take notice of 2015 Broome linebacker Bavueir Jackson's film over the past couple of seasons. That film displays one of the state's toughest and strongest linebackers making plays for the Centurions at a highly productive rate. With a pair of offers already on the table Jackson gave us an update about the latest concerning his recruitment.

"Youngstown State, SC State, ECU, Charlotte, and Richmond all came by this past week. Charlotte is showing strong interest in me. He told me where I stand on their list and the head coach is also the linebackers coach too."

Other schools who've come by recently are Coastal Carolina, Cincinnati, and Western Carolina.

Jackson says a couple of those schools are showing strong interest as well.

"Elon and Cincinnati are both showing a lot of interest in me playing at inside linebacker. Cincinnati was sizing me up and saying that their defense coordinator likes the way I play downfield. Elon said I'm one of their top linebackers on their list and he might make it down here for a spring game."

With offers from Gardner-Webb and Tennessee State there are plenty of other schools taking an interest in the 6'1 230 pound linebacker.

There's also another aspect to Jackson that schools may be interested in as well. Jackson also excels as one of the nation's top discus throwers currently ranking #2 in the nation as a junior. So with a full or partial scholarship for both sports Jackson presents plenty of intriguing scenarios for potential destinations.

"Yes sir I captured the region discus record at region with 185 feet and then I broke my record with 187 feet. A former NFL player named Gabe Wilkins held it since 1989. The state record is 196 feet and I'm trying to break it on Saturday at the state championship meet. I've been leading the state in throws 3 years running now."

Jackson has thrown it 201 feet in practice but all state records must be made at the state championships.

Schools have already started expressing interest in Jackson for track and field so there is a possibility that Jackson could land track offers and compete in both sports on the next level.

"Yes I'm hearing from a lot of schools for track and field already. Texas Tech, Florida, Florida State, and a lot of other big track schools."

We'll see how Jackson fares this weekend in his attempt to break the discus state record and which schools continue to ramp up their interest in him as well here on SCPrepNation.com
