David Isreal Profile

With the class of 2016 quarterback is starting to become one of the deepest in the state and one of those prospects who's making a hard claim as one of the state's best is Blythewood signal caller David Isreal. We caught up with Isreal as he's in the midst of camping with a number of schools and he talked about his sophomore season and rapidly evolving recruitment.

Last season Isreal started to show that he indeed has D1 level talent. The 6'2 175 pound prospect talked about his numbers from his sophomore season with the Bengals.

"I was 150-215 for 1,986 yards and 21 touchdowns. I also ran for 2 touchdowns. I averaged 8.2 yards per throw."

One game in particular saw Isreal explode and he says it was indeed the best game of his young career thus far.

"My best game was against Lugoff-Elgin. I threw 6 touchdowns for 380 yards. It was so memorable because it seemed like all night me and the wide receivers were really clicking."

The 2016 prospect has been working with quarterback trainer Ramon Robinson this off season and he talked about the current strengths of his game and what areas he's looking to improve on over the course of the next two seasons.

"My biggest strength is my arm strength and my patience in the pocket. I can be a dual-threat but I do most of my damage in the pocket."

"I'm working hard at reading coverages most definitely. That's my biggest weakness but coach Morgan is getting me better at it."

Isreal talked about some aspects that Robinson has really helped to hone in and improve during his time training with him.

"He's really helped me improve my footwork the most. He's also helped me to be better at finishing my throw."

The Blythewood sophomore has started to hit the camp circuit and he recently camped at his dream school.

"I camped at NC State. That's my dream school. It was good. It got delayed a little because of a storm. I threw with the seniors a little bit also. I think I threw pretty good with a wet ball."

"I think coach Canada liked how I threw. Elon was there and showed their interest in me as well."

There are number of schools that Isreal says he's been hearing from early on in the process.

"I'm hearing from NC State, Elon, Nebraska, Richmond, Charleston Southern, and East Carolina. Elon is recruiting me the hardest right now."

Looking ahead to his junior season next year he talked about what his goals are for the team and himself.

"As far as the team goals I want to get deep in the playoffs if not get a state title ring. Personally I want to break my high school record for most touchdowns in a game with 7 and also surpass 3,000 plus yards passing for the season."

He talked about a player that he enjoys watching and trying to learn from.

"I personally like watching the old Michael Vick because he was so exciting to watch. A lot of people compare me to Teddy Bridgewater though."

SCPrepNation.com will have more updates with Isreal as we expect his recruitment to pick up over the course of the next two years as he works to be one of the state's best in 2016.
