2016 Dorman quarterback Collin Hill has become a player to watch here in the Palmetto State. The 3-star prospect has already camped with the likes of Clemson, Georgia, Louisville, and Wake Forest. He impressed at those camps and this past weekend the 6'4 210 pound prospect camped on both coasts and he talked with SCPrepNation.com about his time at South Carolina and Stanford.
Hill's adventurous weekend started on Friday camping with the South Carolina Gamecocks at their Showcase. He talked about his time there and some of the things the coaches had to say to him while in Columbia.
"I did camp Friday morning and it was really good! Coach Mangus said I threw the ball well. He said they would be talking with me this fall and want to get me down for a game or two this season."
Hill says he learned a few things from Mangus while he was in Columbia as well as what he was able to see.
"They talked about keeping the ball on your back pec when you're throwing it. We saw the weight room which was really nice, and my sister actually goes there so we have seen the campus before which I think is very nice."
So after camping with the Gamecocks on Friday Hill took a flight to California to check out Stanford in Palo Alto. Coincidentally Hill's Dorman teammate 3-star 2015 wide receiver J.J. Arcega-Whiteside was also on a visit with the Cardinals this weekend as well. Hill shared with us how his experience was with the Cardinals in Palo Alto.
"Stanford was beautiful. I love their campus. We got to see the whole campus, facilities, and worked out in the stadium. The first half of the day was like a Junior Day, they walked us around the campus and then we had camp that evening."
So what did the Cardinals coaches say to Hill?
"Well my recruiting coach, Lance Taylor, said he would be coming to a game this fall. And the quarterbacks coach, Travita Pritchard, said he thought I did good and he would be watching this year and would be in touch."
Still early in the process hoping to earn his first scholarship offer did the Cardinals impress Hill enough to make him consider moving across the country to play football if they were to offer him in the future? Hill says one thing about Stanford really made a big impression on him too.
"It would definitely be an option I would consider, their coaching staff is very professional, the campus is gorgeous, and the academics are top of the line. I'd say how well rounded the players are. They not only can play football at that level but also are great students. I know you can find that everywhere but to do that at a place like Stanford is very special."
After spending some time on the California beaches Hill we asked him what schools he'd like to try and visit on Saturdays to check out the game atmosphere this season.
"I hope to get to South Carolina, Clemson, Georgia, and probably Michigan."
