College scholarship offers are something to be proud of. Byrnes CB Cartier Rice just got his first one recently and SCPrepNation.com spoke to Rice about his feelings and current recruitment.

Rice, a standout in the class of 2008, not only got his first offer but it was a big one coming from the Michigan State Spartans. Asked about it he replied, "Man it feels real good. It's my first offer like you said so I'm excited about it. I am definitely considering Michigan State strongly."

It's still early in the process for Rice and other schools are recruiting him at a furious pace. "Right now Michigan State, Louisville, Marshall, Auburn, & Georgia are the ones I'm most interested in."

The Byrnes star will be hitting the road this weekend as he will make a few stops. "I'm going to be at Louisville's camp on Sunday and then I'm going to be visiting Illinois on Monday. After that I'll be at Georgia's camp next Friday."

Spring practice has come and gone and the Rebels recently competed in the University of South Carolina's 7 on 7's. Cartier talked about the progress of next year's team currently after spring practice and the trip to Columbia. "I'm real happy with where we're at. We're a real young team this year. We lost a lot of veteran players on both sides of the ball. We're going to be really good but I'm excited to get back out there and see what we've got against the competition."

With so many players giving an early commitment we asked Rice if that was indeed a possibility in his case. He quickly responded, "No, I believe I'll wait it out until the end and see what offers I have."

SCPrepNation.com will have more updates on CB Cartier Rice as he hits the camp circuit and his Byrnes team competes in more 7 on 7's so stay tuned.
