Neely: Finally Hears From His Favorite Team

Neely: Finally Hears From His Favorite Team

The 2009 class has depth from top to bottom and one of the fastest rising prospects in the 09' class is Northwestern RB/ATH Jarrett Neely. A superb showing at the Under Armour/Scout.com combine in Charlotte has landed him attention from quite a few new schools including his early favorite from the SEC conference.

The Under Armour/Scout.com combine series was in Charlotte NC a few weekends ago and one of the top prospects that came away from the event was 2009 Northwestern RB Jarrett Neely. Neely tested very well and the response he's gotten since the event has been growing at a rapid pace. Neely sat down with SCPrepNation.com for a quick update of the latest schools to start showing him attention on the recruiting front.

Since the combine I've been hearing from a lot more schools. I was already hearing from I got letters this past week from Colorado, Western Kentucky, plus Georgia which is the school I've been waiting to hear from the most." Neely is looking forward to hearing more from not just the Bulldogs of Georgia but all of the aforementioned schools plus any others that would like to get involved in his recruitment. All of the major D1 programs in both Carolinas have been showing Neely interest early on in the process.

Neely checked in at 5'10 170 pounds in Charlotte. From there he put on a tremendous showing on a very slow surface at the practice fields of the Carolina Panthers. He ran a 4.56 second 40 yard dash, a 4.68 second shuttle, a 7.84 second L-cone drill, broad jumped an even 10 feet, and had a nice vertical of 36.5 inches.

As we've stated before Neely is one of the most versatile players you'll find in the region and arguably the country amassing 81 catches for 800 yards and more than 800 yards rushing on the ground out of the backfield for the Trojans of Northwestern High. He's also refocused his attention in the classroom as well. Currently he says he has a 2.4 core GPA but has done extremely well this year and expects those numbers to rise dramatically.

We will have more in-depth updates with Jarrett Neely and all of the other top prospects in the Palmetto State as we're your #1 source for everything concerning SC high school football and basketball recruiting information, SCPrepNation.com!
