2010 CB Okoye Houston Has SEC Offer

We were the first to tell you about 2010 Woodmont High CB Okoye Houston. Now it seems that things are just starting to get cranked up for the ultratalented prospect. With an in-state offer already in hand Monday night saw Houston get offer #2. Come inside and find out which SEC program is loving what they've seen thus far of Woodmont's Okoye Houston.

Okoye Houston Profile

One game is all it took for us to realize that 2010 CB Okoye Houston of Woodmont High School had all the makings of a budding superstar. After taking in one game we wanted to see if the 2010 prospect could dominate the competition once again and Houston did not disappoint.

Firmly on the radar of many southeastern programs Okoye has a busy schedule lined up for this offseason. Recently attending USC's junior day Houston it seems will be away almost every weekend to either take visits or attend camps/combines. Okoye checks in at 6'0 185 pounds and that college ready frame has many college coaches enamored in more ways than one. Add the fact that he blazes a 4.57 second 40 yard dash time and it's easy to see why he's quickly climbed up the SCPrepNation.com Top 2010 Prospects list early on. A starter since his freshman season the 2010 prospect has valuable experience that he's displayed and learned from over his career so far.

Coastal Carolina which landed a commitment from Houston's brother, Johnnie Houston, in the 2009 class was the first school to offer Okoye a scholarship. Monday night he got word that offer number two was about to be sent in the mail. Woodmont assistant coach Adrian Deschamps gave us the news early this afternoon. "Okoye got another offer last night. Vanderbilt offered him over the phone and said that they will be sending the offer in the mail. We've been on the move to a lot of schools here lately and it seems like we're going to be gone every weekend. That offer gives him two offers now with Coastal Carolina being the first offer."

The Commodores of Vanderbilt have made the state of South Carolina a higher priority it seems recently. With the success that former Broome High standout CB D.J. Moore experienced for Bobby Johnson's team they undoubtedly see a ton of upside in Houston as well extending the early scholarship offer.

The travels of Houston have taken him to a number of schools and Deschamps talked about one of his most recent visits. "We went down to USC for their junior day. They had 160 kids down there. We had a good visit and got to meet with the defensive back coaches. They said they will take five defensive backs and two safeties. They really liked what they saw in Okoye."

With SEC foes Vanderbilt already throwing their hat in the mix and Okoye Houston appearing to be on the verge of busting out in a major way in the class of 2010 will the Gamecocks be one of the next schools to offer Houston? Stay tuned to SCPrepNation.com for a more in-depth inteview with Okoye, head coach Richard Schrader, and assistant coach Adrian Deschamps as we'll make the trek to Woodmont to get an even closer look at Okoye Houston.
