In today’s video presentation, you will get a brief look at three of the most underrated players from out of the Charleston area. And these special talents are Denzel Myers, Devin Gilliard, and Cory Washington.
ATH Denzel Myers: In our first few clips, you will get a brief look at ATH Denzel Myers from North Charleston High School. This young man is without question one of the most versatile players in the state. In the highlight reel provided, you will see Denzel lining up at three different positions: DB, QB, and WR…
For those of you who are not familiar with what Denzel can do on the field, let me run a few numbers by you… In ’08 Myers was held accountable for 2000+ yards offensively and 24 touchdowns for the Cougars. He also starred on the defensive side of the ball where he recorded 6 INTs. In ’07 as a sophomore the gifted athlete picked of 11 passes. I think you get the picture…
Recruiting buzz:
Denzel currently doesn’t have any offers on the table, but he’s been receiving interest from numerous schools throughout the country. Schools like Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, South Carolina, Western Kentucky, and Kentucky have been flooding his mailbox with letters of interests and invites to their campuses.

WR/DB Devin Gilliard: Another extremely gifted athlete that you’ll see in today’s presentation will be Baptist Hill WR/DB Devin Gilliard. Folks, the more we see this young man in action, the more he impresses us with his skills. It is still somewhat mind-boggling why the youngster hasn’t received any offers, especially after what he achieved on last season. For the sake of numbers, Gilliard hauled in 58 catches for 1,291 yards and 11 touchdowns in ‘08. The two-way star also recorded 41 tackles and 6 interceptions. Gilliard’s numbers on the offensive side of the ball may increase even more this season, especially if the Bobcats decide to air it out again this fall.
Recruiting Buzz:
As mentioned earlier, Gilliard currently has no offers on the table. But he has been hearing from a number program; Cincinnati, Georgia Southern, South Carolina, Western Kentucky, Clemson, and several others. We are certain that his stock will go up during the season, especially after college programs see him display that 4.36 speed of his on the field!

WR Cory Washington:The last athlete that you will have a chance to see in action is North Charleston wide receiver, Cory Washington. The 6-3, 180 pound wideout was absent from the field in ’08, but he will be making his return to the gridiron for his senior season this fall. As a 10th grader, Cory caught 31 balls for a little over 400 yards in an offense that relied heavily on the run. Expect those numbers to increase this fall, especially now that he has developed a hunger to play the game he loves. Cory may also see a little bit of time under center for the Cougars this fall, to relieve Myers of his signal calling duites.
Recruiting Buzz:
Despite Cory’s absence from the field in ‘08, he has still managed to attract attention from a number of schools throughout the southeast region. Kentucky, Western Kentucky, South Carolina, and Tennessee State to name a few. A strong finish from the 6-3 target this season could put him in a good position come February 2010.
