This Week's Upstate Honor Roll

A quick look at some of the top individual performances from around the Upstate this week. Guys like 2011 Northwestern QB Justin Worley (pictured) and 2010 Byrnes QB Chas Dodd got busy on Friday and piled up some huge numbers. Come inside to check out some of the top playmakers this week.

The rains held off until late Friday night so there was plenty of action in the Upstate this week. Below check out some of the top individual performances around the Upstate this week. Upstate Honor Roll

• Berea's RB Eddie Williams and RB Davion Gambrell paced their team to a 34-14 win over rivals Travelers Rest. Williams had 18 carries for 132 yards and 1 touchdown. He also had touchdowns on a 64 yard punt return and a 64 yard kickoff return for the Bulldogs. His backfield teammate Davion Gambrell rushed 12 times for 165 yards and a touchdown.
• Congratulations to the Wren Hurricanes who defeated Greenwood 28-3. The margin shocked many in the Upstate and the Hurricanes continue their assault on the airwaves as QB Austin McCaskill threw 4 touchdown passes and finished the night 19-30 for 182 yards. McCaskill's favorite target last night was WR Chris Perdomo who had 7 catches for 80 yards and 3 touchdowns. A win over Easley next week would give the Hurricanes the 1-AAAA region title.
• Southside High RB Tony Parks powered his team to a 31-24 victory over rivals Carolina. Parks rushed 20 times for 174 yards and 2 scores. He also made 3 receptions for 36 yards and another touchdown.
• Greer RB Dominique Parks laid it out on the line as he always does for his Yellow Jackets as they suffered a heartbreaker to Riverside 29-26. Parks carried 29 times for 190 yards and 2 touchdowns on the night as well as catching a pass for 23 yards. Riverside's DeAndre Cheeks carried 10 times for 127 yards and a touchdown.
• Byrnes scored a big Region 2-AAAA victory over Mauldin 72-27. Rutgers QB commit Chas Dodd had another strong showing as he went 19-31 for 315 yards and 5 touchdowns. RB Marcus Lattimore showcased the reason why he was selected for this year's Shrine Bowl team as he had 15 carries for 131 yards and 3 touchdowns while adding 6 receptions for 69 yards. For Mauldin RB Andre Clarke had 9 carries for 133 yards and 2 touchdowns. Also keep an eye out for 2011 Mauldin LB Carson Smith who had a 30 yard fumble return for a touchdown but also got involved on the offensive side of things with 3 catches for 23 yards. We will be featuring Smith along with his Mauldin teammates WR Anthony Stephens, QB Jeremiah McKie, Andre Clarke, and Tiquention Coleman after a recent visit to Mauldin High.
• Rock Hill moved to 10-0 on the season with an impressive 50-21 victory over Blythewood. The Bearcats were powered by their ground game as RB Jamal Tyler had 22 carries for 159 yard and a pair of touchdowns. QB/RB/WR Jatavius Stewart also got in on the action with 3 carries for 149 yards and 2 touchdowns. Recently named to the Shrine Bowl team Stewart also caught 3 passes for 57 yards. Blythewood was led by RB Brandon Wilds who rushed 23 times for 207 yards and a touchdown. He scored another touchdown for the Bengals on a 15 yard reception. The victory sets up a monster showdown for the Region 4-AAAA title as Rock Hill will face South Pointe next week.
• Chester saw the welcome return of 2011 QB Tony McNeal as he suffered a pretty significant knee injury almost a month ago. Although he didn't start McNeal started the 2nd half and finished 7-13 for 75 yards and 2 touchdowns. Afterwards McNeal had this to say, "I want to thank all of my teammates and coaches for supporting me during my rehabilitation. I came back for us to win a state championship." The final margin for the Cyclones was 42-7 as they defeated Lower Richland going away. WR Bobby Kelly had 5 catches for 105 yards and 3 touchdowns for Chester.
• 2011 QB Justin Worley has been on fire lately and continued his strong play Friday night as he helped guide Northwestern to a 45-13 victory over Fort Mill. Worley was 25-32 for 408 yards and 4 touchdowns. WR Tyler Blake had a huge night as he caught 7 passes for 230 yards and 3 scores. His teammate Robert Joseph had 10 catches for 108 yards on the night. The victory evened Northwestern's overall record to 5-5 on the season but more importantly sets up a showdown for the Region 3-AAAA title next week as they face Gaffney who is also 4-0 in region play. • 2011 QB/WR DeEdward Burris continues to rise in the player rankings for us and he proved just why again on Friday night as he helped Gaffney defeat a tough Clover squad 35-28. Burris rushed 16 times for 99 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground and was 18-26 for 244 yards and 2 touchdowns. For the Blue Eagles RB Tyron Douglas continues to have a strog season as he carried the ball 23 times for 169 yards and 2 touchdowns.
