South Carolina adds 2nd commit from SC Prep Ranks

Posted Mar 14, 2003

Big defensive tackle Dorian Capers from Battery Creek high school will fulfill a life long dream by playing his college football for Coach Lou Holtz and the South Carolina Gamecocks.

South Carolina picked up a verbal commitment from Dorian Capers, a defensive tackle prospect from Beaufort (S.C.) Battery Creek High School. Capers, 6-6 and 275 pounds, committed to the Gamecocks yesterday.

"Dorian told me he has always liked South Carolina from the very beginning," Battery Creek Head Coach Fred Hamilton said. "I asked him if he was ready to commit and he said yes so he did it. He and South Carolina just had a great connection."

Last season as a junior, Capers recorded 65 tackles, 15 tackles for a loss and 5 sacks. This season, he may get a chance to also play on the offensive line.

"Dorian is so quick off the ball. He has those long arms and that helps him with the pass rush. Also, he comes to play every week and plays with a great intensity."
